More durable and lower maintenance than granite or marble, quartzite is a metamorphic rock created from changes in pure quartz sandstone—transformed into quartzite by heat and pressure. Quartzite does not easily become etched by acidic products such as juice, vinegar, wine, etc. It provides the aesthetic quality of marble with a stronger durability. Quality is preserved with careful cleaning practices and annual sealing treatments.
